Br. Thomas Colucci

Mount Saviour Monastery

June 2006

News:
On June 9th, Br. Thomas Colucci made his simple profession.  After retiring from the New York City fire department, he came to Mount Saviour for a different career.  His life of prayer is enhanced by his love of nature and simple tasks around the monastery: garden, work with the animals and other necessary work.
We mailed our Dedication Day letter with the latest news about the monastery.

Benedictine Juniors:
Every year, a study program is arranged in a different monastery for the formation of newer monks.  We received 22 monks from coast to coast with their teachers: Fr. Cyprian Davis from St. Meinrad's Archabbey and Fr. Kevin Seasoltz from St. John's Abbey, Collegeville MN.  It was good to see the choir stalls filled with 3 dozens monks during the liturgy.  The evaluation of the participants revealed a great deal of satisfaction  with the program.  One of them wrote: "I felt very much at home in this beautiful, observant monastery.  The courses were about as challenging as they should be under these unique circumstances.  They each had their compelling moments.  It was a special treat to have such prolonged attention from each distinguished scholar and Benedictines."
