Black SheepMount Saviour Monastery

May 2007

News:
The lambing season ended with a surprise: one ewe had a black lamb and a white one.  It is a phenomenon that seems to occur every 5 years.
It was a good season as 136 ewes gave birth to 218 healthy lambs.  I the middle of May,  the lambs receive a vaccine and at shearing  time, on May 26th, they received a second shot.  A guest took pictures and commented on Shearing Day.  On May 2nd., the community received a course on CPR and the use of a defribillator.  We are prepared for emergencies and hope that we are spared from such a challenge.  On May 6th, Sr. Mary Collins gave a presentation for the 5th Annual Damasus Memorial Lecture.  Her topic on Faith and Worship interested the participants: friends of the monastery, some Trappist monks and some Dominican nuns from Elmira.  Our honey production will be affected this year due to the visit of a bear that tipped over many bee boxes.  They had to be moved to a more secure location.

Summer Experience, July 1 - July 31

An experience for men ages 20-35
