Fr. Joseph Gabriel Cusinmano, osbMount Saviour Monastery

June 2012
News:
For the past year, we have enjoyed the presence of a couple monks from Christ in the Desert.  After some discussion with Abbot Philip, the chapter accepted his offer to send his prior to lead our community.  The Abbot President of the American Cassinese Congregation, Abbot Hugh Anderson, appointed Fr. Joseph Gabriel Cusimano as prior administrator for a period of three years.  His family lives in Buffalo, NY.  He arrived on June 8th to begin his assignment accompanied by Br. Francis who spent 3 months here in 2002.  On June 19, Fr. James celebrated his 85th birthday.  His physical and mental energies are not as good as they once were.   Since the present canon law requires that the superior of a Benedictine monastery has to be a priest, we had to look for outside help.  Fr. Martin is stable in the skilled nursing facity of St. Joseph's Hospital.  His memory is not always functioning properly.  He seems to remain in good spirit in spite of his limitations.
