Mount Saviour Monastery

June 2014
News:
The month of June was very full with activities and many solemnities.  Fr. Joseph Gabriel went to Syracuse on June 4th for an oblates' meeting.  On Pentecost Sunday, a long expected donkey was born and lived only 24 hours due to lung problem.  Fr. Joel Rippinger, monk of Marmion Abbey gave our annual retreat from June 9th to the 14th.  On June 15th, Abbot Bruno, President of the Subiaco-Casinese congregation arrived for a fraternal visitation with Abbot Anselm from Pluscarden, England.  Our 3 Juniors (monks in simple vows) attended a workshop with others Benedictine monks at St. Vincent's Archabbey from June 17 to the 28th.  On June 19th, Fr. James Cronen celebrated his 87th birthday.  During the day, he can move to the chapel and to other places with a walker to keep his muscles in good condition.  Fr. Joseph Gabriel and Br. Pierre went Christ in the Desert, New Mexico to meet with monks of the Subiaco-Cassinese congregation and and other monks from small Mexican monasteries to discuss the possibility of forming an American Province in the congregation and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the monastery by Fr. Aelred Wall with the assistance of some monks of Mount Saviour.  The triptych behind the Blessed Sacrement shows St. Peter with the keys (June 29th) and St. John the Baptist (June 24th).
