On the 7th, Father Don came to dinner on his own power with the help of a walker as he continued recovering from a fall. His 10-year anniversary of arriving at Mount Saviour was the next day.
That same day the Orien Arts group, consisting of 15 guests, arrived to begin a week’s retreat. The Arts Residency brings artists and writers to live and create under summer skies. For photos: https://www.instagram.com/orein_arts/.

A tree service came on the 10th and worked throughout the day. They removed and chipped the remains of the willow tree at Saint Gertrude’s that came down in a storm late last month. They also attended to other needed tree and branch removals around the grounds.
On the 15th, the monastery and one-third of our county lost electricity due to high winds. It took two days before most everyone’s power was restored.
Father Michael Perry, who had been substituting for Father Don since June 1st, returned home on the 25th. The same day, Father Don left our infirmary to resume independent living and celebrating daily Mass.
Working around machine breakdowns and the weather, Brother Bruno had made enough haystacks by the end of the month to provide for the sheep through the winter months.
