On the eve of the Epiphany, the monks were received like kings for high tea at the ladies' guesthouse by Maureen Cadley.  Two weeks later, during the Knitters' Retreat organised by Penny Allen, the monks joined the participants for Sunday dinner.  Br. James spoke to the participants about the notion of Oblates that are affiliated to a monastery.  The group enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the sharing of knitting techniques.  Fr. Martin attended the annual meeting of Benedictine Abbots held in New Orleans.  The Abbot Primate from Rome was present.  On January 25th,  Br. Stephen was hospitalized for a bleeding ulcer.  The wound was cauterized and he was back home two days later.
