Mount Saviour Monastery
September 2019
News:
On the 9th Brother Luke underwent an operation known as a Whipple Procedure.
It was a nine-hour operation performed to remove a tumor which thanks be
to God is not cancerous. The rest of the community attended a Virtus training
presentation entitled 'Keeping the Promise Alive', a child and adult safeguarding
program refresher for all the brothers. The next day brothers John and
Gabriel departed for Europe. They went visiting other monastic houses of
our Province and attended a week of meetings at the monastery of Montserrat
in Spain.
On the 15th our Chaplain Father Don was also able to travel as substitute
priests had been arranged for during his absence. On the 17th the first
panel of the triptych that has hung behind the tabernacle was transported
to the conservatory where it will be cleaned and refurbished. Brother Bruno
is transporting the triptych, appropriately enough, in three trips. The
process at the conservatory could take up to a year to complete.
Brother Luke returned from the hospital and was given a room in our
infirmary on the 20th. His surgery was successful and without problems.
Thankfully his healing proceeds speedier than usual. Please remember him
in prayer as his recovery is expected to take several more weeks. On the
24th Brother John and Gabriel returned from Europe tired after many travel
days and with many travel tales to tell. Father Don returned on the 30th
so we are all back together once again.
