News:
Washing of the feet ritual for the novitiate.
On the evening of June 10, First Vespers of Corpus Christi, Br. Cestir
was clothed as a novice. He has received the name Francis after the saint
of Assisi on whose feast day he was born. Please remember him in prayer
as he continues his discernment journey.
Because of the continuing pandemic situation the community decided on
the 15th to cancel the fall meeting of Oblates which is regularly held
at the monastery each October. The annual outdoor Mass on July 4 has likewise
been cancelled.
Brother John of the Cross, a Cistercian monk from Vietnam we are sponsoring,
returned to Mount Saviour on the 27th after completing his first year of
studies at Christ the King Seminary in Buffalo. He will quarantine in a
guest house for two weeks before rejoining the community. Because of the
closure of Christ the King, his studies will now continue at St. Mary's
Seminary in Baltimore which was founded in 1791.
The guest houses, gift shop and chapel remain closed until further notice.
We genuinely appreciate the many kind words sent to us during these times
by our many Oblates and friends and continue to be united with one another
through our prayer.
