Mount Saviour Monastery (November 2020)
Mount Saviour Monastery
November 2020
News:
After celebrating the solemnity of All Saints on the 1st, we celebrated
our own saints, our deceased brethren on the 2nd. Because of the cold and
blustery weather conditions, we decided it was more prudent to gather indoors
to pray for them around the new Memorial Plaque in the Crypt instead of
visiting our brother's graves outdoors. Somewhat appropriately it was also
the day one of the monastery vehicles was declared officially deceased
as well.
On the 5th Brother Bruno made a several hour car journey to pick up
yet another load of candle wax. Although the gift shop has remained closed
since March our revenue from sales of monastery goods through our website
has offset lost revenue due to its closure. The lack of foot traffic in
the Shop may however be contributing to our abundance of woolen mittens
which are made here from the wool of our sheep. At this time of year they
are usually in short supply but are still readily available at the moment.

Brother Bruno remained on the run with two more trips during the month,
this time to bring sheep to auction in New Jersey. On the 12th and 13th,
all the sheep were brought in from the fields to be given a thorough going-over
before the arrival of winter. Those not working with the sheep were stuffing
envelopes instead. The most recent edition of the Mount Saviour Chronicle
arrived from the printers to be stuffed and mailed out. On the 21st the
rams and ewes were put together in the same fields thus beginning the new
annual cycle.
Word was received on the 27th of the death of Brother Mark's mother.
Please remember Gertrude and her family in prayer.
After mailing out the Chronicle we began receiving back empty envelopes
that seem to have been mailed out without including the newsletter inside
them. Somehow something went wrong somewhere. The latest Chronicle can
be viewed by following this link: https://www.msaviour.org/chronicles/chronicle2020.pdf
