News:
On the 3d we blessed this year’s Advent wreath which was fashioned
by Brother Joseph. Included in the wreath is a white candle which is lit
on Christmas Day.
Brother Bruno took the last of 68 sheep to auction to New Jersey on
the 5th.
We observed the solemnity of Mary on the 8th and further rejoiced when
we were once again hooked up to our main well. The replacement of a water
line begun at the end of November was finally completed. Because of the
lack of water, the guest houses had to be closed down until the job was
completed.
On the 21st the rams and ewes were separated after 30 days together.
We’ll wait and see what develops this spring, and hopefully not before.
On the first Vespers of Christmas, Father Don blessed our cr'che.
It was set up in front of the chapel altar upstairs to make it more accessible
than in the crypt. The weather was warm, and attendance similar to a Sunday
Mass for the candlelight service.
On Christmas Day it was 55 degrees and sunny which made it easier for
our guests to travel. The community and guests enjoyed a two hour talking
meal on tables set up in the middle of the main refectory. One of our dishes
was a roast beef lovingly prepared by Brother Gabriel.
Several Servants of the Word made their yearly journey from Michigan
on the 26th and stayed with us as guests to ring in the New Year. Each
year they volunteer their skills for various projects that need to be done
for which we are most grateful. Wishing everyone a happy and blessed New
Year.
